As many of us have experienced with our own children and families, this year 2020 is unlike any before. With the COVID-19 pandemic most kids started their school year online and are forced to sit in front of their computer screens to learn. The frustration and sadness of these kids who cannot socially interact with their classmates in regular classrooms is heartbreaking. While the difficulty of adjusting to a virtual world is extremely overwhelming, this giving season we must remember those in need who have been struggling long before the pandemic struck and are without hope.
Young women in rural Kenya and Guatemala are not able to go to school at all, not this year nor the next, because they are forced to spend an average of 6 hours a day collecting water for their families that is often contaminated. Worldwide, women and girls spend around 200 million hours daily collecting water. This giant waste of time deprives young women of opportunities for success such as going to school, raising a family, or learning new skills to earn an income.

This Giving Tuesday, we are raising $20K to build 4 wells and to deliver thousands of life-saving water filters to rural areas in Kenya and Guatemala. We plan to ensure every young woman has the opportunity to her education and basic rights of clean water and sanitation.
